Ed Poulton secures second term as managing partner of Baker McKenzie's London Office

Baker McKenzie has announced the re-election of Ed Poulton as managing partner of its London office.

This will be Poulton’s second tenure following his initial election in July 2021. Poulton served as a partner in the firm’s dispute resolution practice. According to the firm, Poulton is a well-known name within the arbitration community. His expertise encompasses serving as counsel in commercial and investment treaty disputes and acting as an arbitrator.

Additionally, Poulton is the consulting editor of a key text on the arbitration of M&A disputes and has previously led the steering committee for the firm's global international arbitration practice group.

Joining Baker McKenzie in 2000 as a trainee, Poulton became a partner in 2010 and has contributed to the London Management Committee for six years. His leadership extended through the pandemic as part of the firm's Coronavirus response team. He oversaw the transition to new, sustainable office premises at 280 Bishopsgate, in the City of London.

Upon his re-election, Poulton said in a statement, “I have had the great privilege of leading our London office since 2021, and I am humbled to have been re-elected to do so again. I am excited to continue to build the London and international offerings of the leading global law firm. As before, I want to continue to ensure that our firm offers the best experience to our clients and people and for future generations of both.”

Alex Chadwick, Baker McKenzie's chief executive, EMEA, commended Poulton's leadership and approach, stating, “Over the past three years, I've been impressed by Ed's clear-sighted leadership and inclusive approach. He was at the forefront of the move to new premises in London last year – an important chapter in our largest office's story.”

Chadwick added, “At every stage, Ed championed the move with our people, listening to concerns and driving the positive changes that the move offered the Firm. His re-election is well-deserved.”

Poulton’s new three-year term as managing partner will commence on July 1.
