Meridian Lawyers lures former Clyde & Co partner to Brisbane office

Meridian Lawyers has attracted former Clyde & Co partner Matthew Pokarier to its Brisbane office as a principal.

Pokarier is an expert in cyber law and IT liability. He commences with Meridian Lawyers’ national insurance team.

Over more than 25 years, he has advised the insurance industry on matters involving professional indemnity and directors and officers insurance. He has also provided guidance on cyber security and responses to cyber breaches.

Pokarier has assisted in developing privacy and data management policies. He has also assisted clients on cyber insurance cover.

Prior to his stints with Meridian Lawyers and Clyde & Co, he was a partner at Sparke Helmore and at DLA Piper.

This year, Meridian Lawyers expanded its team considerably by bringing in Benjamin Karalus to lead the new national recoveries practice in Melbourne. Andrew Gorman and Scott Kennedy joined the compulsory third party and general insurance groups. Angel Li was called upon to lead the newly opened Canberra office; she was joined by Jesse Iliopoulos and Christine Neou.
