Baker McKenzie has advised 7-Eleven International LLC and its Tokyo-listed parent company Seven & i Holdings as it finalised its acquisition of 7-Eleven Australia's convenience store business for $1.71bn.

According to co-lead partner Andrea Kennedy, the transaction was completed “after a rather protracted process, which started back in July 2022, and ultimately involved a lengthy competitive sale process”.

The acquisition terms were agreed upon in November 2023. With 7-Eleven Australia now under its umbrella, 7-Eleven International expands its portfolio with over 750 stores.

Kennedy led the Baker McKenzie team working on the deal alongside Kate Jefferson. They received support from Sabrina Rodrigues, Penny Ward, Lizzie Lu, Po Tsai, Anna Vella, Samuel Allam, Tanja Mikulic, Trudi Procter, Lynsey Edgar, Jeremy Hardy, Dora Stilianos, Josh Baldacchino, Kellie-Anne McDade, Sabine Johnson, Peter Lucarelli, Alex Hewitt, Dean Bao, Liam O'Callaghan, Toby Patten, Rick Troiano, John Coleman, John Walker and Erica Kidston.

Kennedy confirmed that lawyers from Baker McKenzie’s Japanese branch also contributed their legal expertise to the deal.
