G+T lures Clayton Utz partner as restructuring and insolvency co-head

Gilbert + Tobin (G+T) has brought in Clayton Utz partner Orla McCoy to co-lead its restructuring and insolvency team in Sydney.

McCoy will work alongside fellow partner Peter Bowden. She brings with a team of three other lawyers composed of Mikhail Glavac, Tom Gardner, and Jing Zhang, increasing the total number of lawyers on G+T’s restructuring and insolvency team to 21.

McCoy worked on significant domestic and international restructuring and insolvency matters during her tenure at Clayton Utz, which spanned more than nine years. She has tackled advisory, transactional, and formal appointment roles.

She has also handled debtor-side mandates, as well as for secured and unsecured creditors, credit funds, sponsors, bondholders and the Commonwealth government. She has worked on  the administration and restructure of Virgin Australia Airlines and provided buy-side representation for Speedcast International and Foodora Australia. She also tackled the restructures of SCF Group and Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics, as well as Borders/Angus & Robertson, Lehman Brothers Australia, and ABC Learning Centres receivership.

In 2017, McCoy was recognised as the top student in the INSOL Global Insolvency Fellowship.
