Velocity Legal welcomes new director from Rigby Cooke
Seamus Ryan

Velocity Legal has appointed former Rigby Cooke special counsel Seamus Ryan as its newest director.

Ryan was with Rigby Cooke for eight years. He is a specialist in insolvency and dispute resolution.

He has advised insolvency practitioners, directors, creditors, and businesses for over 10 years. He has appeared before the Supreme Court and the Federal Court.

Ryan previously worked on a successful application to set aside a deed of company arrangement and remove voluntary administrators under circumstances where misleading information was presented to creditors. He also played a role in achieving positive outcomes in voidable transaction claims for liquidators and trustees in bankruptcy.

Ryan is a professional member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association (ARITA) and was recently named a member of the disciplinary tribunal for Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He co-authored an article in the ARITA Journal that contributed to the reversal of the Australian Financial Security Authority’s long-term stand regarding the payment of remuneration to trustees in bankruptcy.
