Employer of Choice 2020

The best law firms to work for in 2020

Welcome to the Australasian Lawyer’s Employer of Choice rankings, where we celebrate and recognise Australia’s best legal employers.

The competition for attracting and retaining top talent is high, making it imperative for law firms to establish key initiatives that will receive industry and community-wide recognition. With 2020 proving to be a catalyst for change and accelerated transformation for workplaces, this year’s winners have demonstrated commitment to engaging and empowering their employees to do well at work, in their career, and their lives.

Now in its second year, the 2020 Employer of Choice winners were selected from over a hundred nominations received during the call for entries conducted in August-September of this year. Firms were asked to provide qualitative and quantitative information about their initiatives and achievements in the following areas: remuneration, training and professional development, career progression, diversity and inclusion, access to technology and resources, communication, leadership, work-life balance, health and wellbeing, reward and recognition, and recruitment.

Firms were also asked for figures around average staff tenure, retention rate and their employee engagement score and methodology.

The submissions were reviewed by an internal editorial panel with those demonstrating the most impressive initiatives and results overall being awarded with the Employer of Choice title.

Although the firm sizes on the list differ vastly – 1-99 versus 1000-plus employees – the core values presented by each employer remain constant. They all believe that company growth and meeting strategic objectives can only be achieved when they are investing in their employees and providing them with a fantastic work culture.
